If you would like to request a review of something you wrote, or something you think is really awesome, send me a message on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/durk13\">twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The Name of the World<\/em>, Denis Johnson<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince my early teens I\u2019ve associated everything to do with college, the \u201cacademic life,\u201d with certain images borne toward me, I suppose, from the TV screen, in particular from the films of the 1930s they used to broadcast relentlessly when I was a boy, and especially from a single scene: Fresh-faced young people come in from an autumn night to stand around the fireplace in the home of a beloved professor.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wow. 71 words in that sentence, at least according to Word. I didn\u2019t bother to count them. Some things I just believe. And I believe that Denis Johnson was an amazing writer that was taken from us far too soon. As much as I love his language and style, I truly hope that his estate doesn\u2019t release some lost and forgotten and incomplete manuscript. Those are always lost and forgotten and incomplete for a reason. I have a few. May they never see the light of day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Stillhouse Lake<\/em>, Rachel Caine<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGina never asked about the garage.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not very exciting, but intriguing enough for me to read the second and third lines. Somehow this garage destroyed Gina. Now <em>that<\/em> has my attention. I\u2019ve never known garages to attack.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The Bull, Cycle 2 of the Blood Zodiac<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EricaCrockett\">Erica Crockett<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe can\u2019t get the blood out of her blond wig.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now that\u2019s a first line that gets attention. Yes, I kept reading, and yes, you should too. Check out Erica\u2019s first novel, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.durkota.net\/2015\/11\/book-review-chemicals-by-erica-crockett\/\"><em>Chemicals<\/em><\/a>, while you are at it. You won\u2019t be disappointed.
